Day 10 - My Country Tis of Thee (10/7/12)

Day 10 of 40 Days of Prayer for the Election - Originally posted on Facebook on October 7, 2012

A beautiful, crisp Sunday to praise God for the United States of America, for His bountiful blessings, and for continued protection for our country.

To be thankful, to be joyful and to sing your favorite hymn of patriotic gratefulness is our prayer.

Today I choose "My Country, 'Tis of Thee." This was always easier to play on the piano, so the first one I learned to play. The words are precious, however, and not simple at all. Sing this line, "Our father's God to Thee, Author of liberty, To Thee we sing, Long may our land be bright, With freedoms' holy light, Protect us by Thy might, Great God, our King."

So we are not wanting a king for our country, we already are blessed with God our King. He wrote liberty on our hearts when He saved our souls. And we were created to praise Him for all He is and does!

Let's just do that. Spend this day, not fretting but praising God.

* Thank you, Father God, for establishing this country in your name.

* Thank you, God for the freedom you gave us to worship the one true God in peace.

* Thank you, Mighty God, for the protection you give our country, and the brave men who risk their lives to give us the freedoms we enjoy. Protect them from harm.

* Thank you, God, for awakening in your people the call to protect our country through your power.

Amen
