Today let's pray for the candidates and the first debate tonight. In the old times, apparently it was considered to be in bad taste to be seen even wanting an office, much less campaigning. Things are quite different today. Candidates for all public office put themselves and their families through a tortuous, rigorous process and every part of their lives comes in to view (Certainly that is not always good). It is so intense that many good people have chosen not to endure this public scrutiny that often turns so cruel and tough.
Praying for the candidates does not mean praying for just those you agree with. All of them need our prayers, at all levels. So today, let us pray for all leaders & potential leaders for the United States:
* They will take brave stands for righteousness, even when it may not be well received.
* Their families will be protected from harm and unnecessary scrutiny.
* They will surround themselves with godly advisors.
* They will focus on the issues we face as a nation and not on personal attacks on other candidates.
Thank you in advance, dear Father, for Your upholding hand! Hold our nation save in Your protection from those who wish to harm us!
Amen
