Day 34 - Legacy of Truth (10/31/12)

Day 34 of 40 days of prayer for the electionOriginally posted on Facebook on October 31, 2012

Are you excited about the closing days of the election? Are you weary? Are you expectant? Are you relieved that the end is in sight? Are you having anxiety about the outcome? Or all of the above? Me, too! If we feel this way, can you image how the candidates must feel?

Today I feel like expressing the truths I have been reading today in God's Word. I hope I will have a pattern emerge. Forgive me for giving a scattered approach. I do know that God is never random, accidental or vague, so I trust Him for truth for us in these closing days.

On motivation: "Judge nothing before the appointed time, wait until The Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts."
1 Corinthians 4:5

"Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." John 8:32

Let's talk briefly about our legacy, as Christians and as citizens of America. What do we want to impart to those in our care or in our area of influence? What truths do we want to give out? What responsibility do we have to stand for truth? Do we sit on the sidelines letting others speak and think for us? Or are we willing to "let the cards fall where they may?"

Some challenges from God's Word for me:
"I will sing of the Lord's great love forever! With my mouth I will make His faithfulness known to all generations." Psalm 89:1

"Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your Presence, O Lord. They will rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness." Psalm 89:15

So what causes me despair today? How am I clinging to the hope of God's promises? I am calling out to God to allow all of us to invest in others and share our lives.

"Without faith it is impossible to please God...He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Hebrews 11:6

I know from God's Word that all people God uses must be conscious of their own weakness and of God's power to overcome weakness. We must confess our need for His strength. We must earnestly pray to God for ourselves and our leaders. We can be involved in God's miracles! Let us go forth today into the adventure of daily living in God's presence and strength!

"God will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing!" Zephaniah 3:17

Not because of our good works, brains, or ability to speak God's truth. But because we walk with God and faithfully trust Him. Not by deeds, but obedience. God's reward comes in answered prayer and the reality of His Presence!

Pray:

*Lord, give us light in the hidden darkness of this world, that evil will be exposed.

*Father, help our legacy be You. Let us give out your eternal truths to the next generation. That "The memory of the righteous will be a blessing." Proverbs 10:7

*Amazing God, fill us with hope today!

Amen
