The Army of God! Now we are really getting ready for combat! Spiritual battle, that is. So, are we defenseless? Are we defensive? As believers we are called to be peaceful, loving and kind in our approach to others. However, we are not to be timid, mealy-mouthed or uninformed. It is time to take up the armor God gives us, not the world's armor. We must stand firm in what we know about God, to rest securely in His control of our lives and in the outcome of the election. He cares about us, of that I am certain!
I believe there is great truth in the phrase, "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything."
I am fervently praying for God's control of this election, and I know you are, too. Then, what do we do about our friends, family, and the general electorate who are complacent and frankly "sick" of us talking about it?
This is what I get: "I hate politics." "They are all liars, why should I listen?" "What difference does my vote make?" "The negative ads turn me off." "Oh, there is a debate? I just love 'Dancing with the Stars.'"
Well, I love DWTS, too, but you can bet I love my country more!
Wow, I am judgmental today. That is what I mean. That is the temptation for all of us who are passionate about things, whether politics or NASCAR! God is not pleased with that attitude, at all.
Here is what I believe about that:
-We can't make people interested and we can't make them care. I can ask them to vote. And I can be prepared to tell them why I will vote the way I already did.
-We can challenge them to pray about the election and to ask for wisdom to choose the best candidates.
-We can ask them to trust God for the outcome of the election, not the polls taken daily.
God has already chosen His leader for the next four years. Since He already knows the outcome, why should He listen to us? He says in His word that He listens to the fervent petitions of His children! He wants to hear from us! He wants to give us the desires of our hearts! Wow! What an amazing privilege!
So, today let us have hope in God's plans for us, joy in our daily walk, and trust in the wisdom of the One who never fails! Remember, hope is not "wishful thinking," because those who hope in The Lord hold the trump card of His unfailing promises. Our names are engraved on the palms of His hands. Isaiah 49:16
So, give off that hope today, in God's hands, being courageous in our speech, bold in our witness of God's peace and be a blessing to others during this tense, decisive time in our country.
I believe that is the best armor for us today!
Pray:
* Lord, give us words of hope and peace today.
* Please, Father, remove the fear and doubts we have about the coming election.
* Dear Father, hold us close to you today, and let us radiate You all day long!
Amen
